Imagine Dragons are the Las Vegas rockers that formed in 2008 and have been growing from strength to strength. Their first two Eps, self-titled (2009) and ‘Hell and Silence’ (2010) were the first inklings of them being a group of rockers with a different, new edge. Their 2012 EP, ‘Continued Silence’, peaked at number 40 on the Billboard and their 2012 single, ‘It’s Time’ won the MTV Award for ‘Best Rock Video’ and was a certified 7x platinum single.
Now, over a decade later, the band show no sign of slowing down or hitting the brakes on their music journey. With the release of ‘Loom’ due in June, fans and critics are excited to see what the new 9 tracks of the album will be. It also marks a change in the way the band manage themselves – ‘Loom’ is the first album they have produced, with Mattman and Robin, their long-time collaborators. ‘Eyes Closed’ is currently the only single released from the album but represents a change, how there is excitement for the day ahead and for the new ones to come, but still with that Imagine Dragons edge and sound.
Imagine Dragon were off the grid for a bit last year, taking time to enjoy family and life. This off-stage and out of the limelight time gave the band a different mentality that made them appreciate and love music even more. It led to ‘Loom’ being recorded. Reynolds commented that, ‘the world looks much different after being a band for more than a decade. But some things will remain the same.’ He spoke of how they wanted to find the balance between nostalgia and freshness and how finding that balance brings joy in the studio. He also commented, ‘we had a lot of fun making this one and we hope you enjoy it too.’
