Rob Zombie
Born Robert Bartleh Cummings on January 12, 1965, Rob Zombie is an American actor, director, record producer, singer, and composer. His live performances have been hailed for their intricate shock rock theatricality. He has sold an estimated 15 million records worldwide. His music and lyrics are known for their horror and sci-fi themes.
As the frontman and founding member of the heavy metal band White Zombie, with whom he recorded four albums, Zombie first gained notoriety. The song "Hands of Death (Burn Baby Burn)", which he wrote and performed with Alice Cooper in 1996, was his debut solo release and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Metal Performance.
Zombie's music is known for incorporating horror and suspense elements, which stem from his love of horror movies. Described as "melding metal with industrial, hypnotic rhythms and haunting sounds" and having a "complicated beat, distinctive vocals and a killer story line," Zombie's music also contains elements that are typically found in heavy metal music. His songs have also been known to contain quotes and samples from classic horror movies that he grew up watching.
Alice Cooper
American rock singer and composer Alice Cooper was born Vincent Damon Furnier on February 4, 1948. His career has spanned sixty years. Cooper is referred to as "The Godfather of Shock Rock" by many music journalists because of his raspy voice and elaborate stage show that includes guillotines, electric chairs, fake blood, reptiles, baby dolls, and dueling swords, among other props and stage illusions. He has equally drawn inspiration from horror movies, vaudeville, and garage rock to pioneer a macabre and theatrical brand of rock intended to shock audiences.
Cooper claimed that music from the mid-1960s, especially British bands the Beatles, the Who, and the Rolling Stones, as well as the Yardbirds, had the biggest influence on him.
Former White Zombie lead vocalist Rob Zombie claims his first "metal moment" was seeing Alice Cooper on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. Zombie has also claimed to have been heavily influenced by Cooper's costumes.
And now, both Zombie and Cooper are joining forces for another run of the Freaks on Parade Tour!
