Leading the way for a new generation of country stars, Sam Hunt draws influence from hip hop and R&B in his music, creating a sound that is uniquely his and has proven to be hugely popular. Originally planning to make his living as a professional footballer, Hunt moved to Nashville in 2008 to try his hand in the world of music. His songwriting skills got landed him a publishing deal, and he began to make his name writing for other artists, landing a number one single and an ASCAP Award with the 2012 Kenny Chesney hit "Come Over," which he co-wrote. He also co-write Billy Currington's number one hit "We Are Tonight," and Keith Urban's Grammy-nominated single "Cop Car." In 2014, he made his debut as an artist in his own right with the album Montevallo, which he released with MCA Nashville. The album produced five singles, breaking several records, and he had three consecutive Hot Country Songs chart and four Country Airplay chart number ones – a first for a newcomer. In 2020, he releases his second studio album, Southside, which has already produced three singles, including his 2017 single "Body Like a Back Road," which reached number 6 on the Billboard 200.
